Abstract


Small scale fishery (artisanal) is an important activity in the northern coast of São Paulo State, concerning technological, productive, economic and social aspects. The stationary uncovered pound net is a kind of fishing gear used since 1900’s. It is a passive fishing gear whose production reaches more than two hundreds of tons. Technological features of fishing gears are essential for analyzing landings, providing information to manage the fisheries. In this study a stationary uncovered pound net located at Toque Toque Pequeno beach was described as a model of fishing gear used by fishermen of the region, being the results presented and discussed.
