Abstract

It was analyzed in present study, major fire occurred in April 2015, at terminal for storage of bulk liquids located in Santos Port, São Paulo State, Brazil. It propose the application of tools for engineering and management in the reduction of accidents for assessment of environmental conditions of work in port facilities (mechanical, chemical and safety properties). The methodology employed FMEA -Analysis of Modes and Effects of Failures in area where they’re installed the pumps which exploded in Central Transfer IV. Risk typs in situation I (59.10% intolerable and 40.9% of tolerability) and situation II (55.55%, 33.33% intolerable, tolerability and 11.12% of acceptable). Total emition of 43,851.70 tons of CO2 and 1,468.71 tons of CO into the atmosphere. Unsanitary conditions were observed and dangerousness in environment of work the CETRAN IV, for risk analysis presented by the concentration of particulate material present in the atmosphere, higher values for maximum exposure limits accepted in Brazil: 9.000 mg/m3 carbon dioxide and 55 mg/m3 for carbon monoxide.
