Analysis of ichthyofaunal bycatch from the shrimp trawl off Barra does Una – Peruíbe, São Paulo, Brazil
Abstract: Shrimp trawl is an activity characterized by efficient but low selectivity. Of the incidentally caught organisms, fish have the largest contribution to the total biomass of the bycatch. Thus, the present study aimed to analyze the composition of the ichthyofauna bycatch from the shrimp artisanal trawl off Barra do Una, Peruíbe, SP, Brazil, inserted in the South Coastal Marine Environmental Protection Area - APAMLS. The sampling occurred on January of 2018 through a simple shrimp trawl off the coast of Barra do Una. On total, 52 fish species were caught belonging to three families and seven species. Sciaenidae was the most representative family (71.43%) with five species, being represented by 63.50% of S. rastrifer. In relation of the total, 71.43% of the captured biomass has commercial value. According to state law, 28.57% have deficient data. Due to the small number of sampling performed, we consider it essential to carry out a complete monitoring program to complement its results.
