HERBÁRIO VALE DO SÃO FRANCISCO, PERNAMBUCO (HVASF)
Abstract
Abstract: The Herbarium Vale do São Francisco (HVASF) was founded in 2005 by Professor and Botanical Dr. José Alves de Siqueira Filho. Ther herbarium was created to provide support to teaching, research and extension of the Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco (UNIVASF), goes beyond all expectations and is consolidated with a mission to unravel and formalize the Biodiversity Flora of Caatingas. The HVASF herbarium currently has 22,788 herbarium specimens, the collection houses several families of Caatingas that are well represented, especially the Cactaceae family, which has registered 578 specimens corresponding to samples from 20 different genera. More than 6,197 digitized images of species are available online, and is expected to complete scanning by the end of 2016.
