Use of titanium alloy implants for total hip replacement

Abstract


Considering the factors of biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, high tenacity and good wear resistance, the alloy Ti-6Al-4V with 110.0 GPa elastic modulus is a choice used to replace of hip joints. With 6% of aluminum and 4% of vanadium (stabilizers of ambient temperature) has an elastic modulus close to that of human bone is 14GPa.
