Abstract

This study, based on data from agencies such as IPEA, IBGE and others, deals with the issue of early aging population and the need for future workforce prepared to meet the country's economic needs. However, it is unclear if the retirees tend to stay working. So, a question raises of what are the main factors that could influence the decision of remain active in the working place. The objective of the study was to identify what are the motivators that drive retirees to remain working. For this end, an exploratory and qualitative research was conducted. Researchers interviewed some retirees about what were the main reasons that led them to remain active. Results indicate that most retirees who decided to stay active, it was done because of the family influence and not by encouragement from managers.
