Abstract

We live in an age with constant innovation from the process of globalization and technology. In view of this, organizations are looking for professionals who are continually improving to work in the most different contexts. On the other hand, companies need to follow the process of transformation, empowering their managers and having investment and training practices and job development. In order to organizations to remain in the market, some actions that enable continuous improvement and consequently achieving organizational and individual goals must be implemented. This is a bibliographic study aimed at analyzing the concepts of people management, concepts and types of competence, training by competence and selection. Selected books and publications from the year 1979 to 2017 were selected. The objective of this study is to emphasize the importance of competence in selection and training, addressing the relevance of people in the company, concepts of competence and the importance of training for employees and organization. With the study it was possible to conclude that organizations are bothering to invest in training and development of the professionals making them qualified and innovative, and consequently bringing positive results to the organization.
