Abstract
As they are regions with intense human use, coastal areas contain a high concentration of solid waste, which can generate impacts on human health and local biodiversity. The objective of the present study was to characterize and quantify the solid waste present in the intertidal region of Praia da Barra do Una, in a salt marsh area and in a section of the mangrove fringe close to the Una do Prelado River (Peruíbe - SP), evaluating the locations with the highest occurrences of these wastes and the most prevalent classes. A visual count of solid waste was carried out in plots or transects in these environments and the percentage and average of the different categories found were obtained. A predominance of plastic and glass waste was observed, with a higher incidence in the marsh region, a factor associated with human concentrations and tourist activities.
