Abstract

Since its creation in 1998, the Unisanta Herbarium (HUSC), located in Santos – SP, has supported university communities and residents of surrounding cities. The herbarium is associated with the Santos Botanical Garden. The collection has more than 10,000 specimens, from the coastal regions of the state of São Paulo. We offer internships for students from the various courses at this institution, developing environmental education work in schools in the region and presenting work at national botany and scientific initiation congresses. The main objective is to study the coastal ecosystems that are part of the Atlantic Forest biome, mainly the Restinga, the Mangrove and the Dense Ombrophilous Forest, serving as a reference for identifying the species, in addition to information about their occurrence in nature, aspects of their morphology and biology.
