Abstract

Concrete is one of the most widely used materials in civil construction due to its strength, durability, availability, and versatility. To enhance its properties, research has explored the use of biochar, obtained from the pyrolysis of wood bark. This material, with high porosity and water retention capacity, can gradually release moisture, promoting cement curing. The study evaluated concrete with 1%, 3%, and 5% partial replacement of cement with biochar, analyzing rheological behavior, mechanical strength, absorption, and thermal conductivity. The results showed a significant impact on physical-mechanical and thermal properties, with emphasis on the 1% replacement, which reduced thermal conductivity without compromising strength
