INHIBITORY EFFECTS OF Ilex paraguariensis (YERBA MATE) EXTRACT ON THE BACTERIA Staphylococcus aureus COMPARED TO THE ANTIBIOTIC CEPHALEXIN
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigates the problem of bacterial infections and antibiotic resistance, highlighting the role of Staphylococcus aureus, responsible for serious diseases. Furthermore, it examines the efficacy of cephalexin and discusses its limitations due to this problem. In search of alternatives, the research explores the potential of yerba mate extract as an antibacterial treatment. Yerba mate may offer an effective solution against bacterial infections. The main objective is to compare the inhibitory effects of yerba mate with those of cephalexin, targeting treatments that can be used in combination with conventional antibiotics. The methodology was based on fractional extraction, and as a result, the concentration proved insufficient to obtain significant effects
