Abstract

This work traces the formation of Brazilian culture based on the experiences of the black population and the occupation of urban space between the 16th and 20th centuries It focuses primarily on the Centro neighborhood of Santos city. In response to the process of covering up the black identity in the neighborhood, a project is developed for an open-air cultural center to preserve and celebrate afro-brazilian culture, introducing it into the territory as a vital element of the city
