SILENCED AND INVISIBLE WOMEN OF THE COLONIAL PERIOD: NON-FORMAL EDUCATION AS A STRATEGY FOR HISTORICAL VISIBILITY IN SCHOOL AND PUBLIC SPACE
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presents the first phase of a non-formal education project focused on the visibility of silenced and erased women from Brazilian colonial history. The proposal includes the creation of informative posters and a digital platform accessible via QR Code, highlighting three historical figures: Dandara dos Palmares, Ana Pimentel, and Bartira. Inspired by Paulo Freire’s pedagogy and Michelle Perrot’s reflections, the project emphasizes the importance of education that values memory, culture, and identity of historically silenced subjects. Beyond schools, the initiative extends to culturais centers, squares, theaters, and museums, reinforcing the perspective that non-formal education must circulate in public and community spaces.
