Abstract

Currently, twisted copper pair cables already deployed for telephone networks have been neglected due to technological advances, and therefore can be reused for power transmission through DC converters. This work aims to demonstrate that these idle and now abandoned physical means can be used for power transmission to consumers in remote or difficult-to-access locations, even for specific applications, enabling uninterrupted power for their equipment. A way to calculate the maximum power supply distance based on the cable characteristics is also presented.
