Abstract
Stainless steel 316 is widely applied in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, oil, textile, pulp and paper industry, sanitation companies, architectural projects, domestic utilities, as heat exchangers as they have excellent ductility, weldability and strength to oxidation. Potentiodynamic polarization electrochemical tests were used to obtain the corrosion parameters in 0.5 M sodium chloride solution, with the influence of the scan rates of 0.167 mV/s and 1 mV/s employed in the tests, where it was noted higher pite potential for the highest scan rate.
