Abstract

According to socio-environmental characteristics, the São Paulo coastal zone was divided into four sectors: Northern Coast, Baixada Santista, Estuary-Lagunar Complex of Iguape-Cananéia and Vale do Ribeira. Among the municipalities located in the sector of the North Coast, is the city of Ubatuba, characterized by the rich diversity of natural resources and high tourist potential. In view of the ecological and economic conflicts presented and the need to manage them, a qualitative analysis of the EEZ of the city of Ubatuba published in 2004 was carried out comparing to that published in 2017. In order for the modifications made in 2017 to be effective, it is necessary to invest in the organization of the terrestrial and marine territory. The need for environmental licensing, monitoring and inspection is of paramount importance for the sustainable development of the municipality in order to protect the environment and guarantee the quality of life of the population
