Abstract

 This article will address the need to consider the exercise of individual freedom in relation to family planning provided for in Article 226, paragraph 7 of the Federal Constitution and Law 9.263/96, which will also focus on the need for authorization of the spouse in cases of voluntary consort sterilization. The light of the principle of human dignity will be analyzed if the authorizing guidelines for sterilization are in line with the principles of the Brazilian legal system.
