Abstract
The Economic Ecological Zoning (ZEE) is an instrument of the National Environmental Policy, regulated by the Decree No. 4,297 / 2002. At the State level, environmental zoning is addressed by the State Environmental Policy (State Law No. 9,509 / 1997), which reaffirms environmental planning and environmental development as one of its principles. This work performed a brief analysis of the ZEE of the city of Bertioga (São Paulo, Brazil), considering the historical, environmental, social, economic, cartographic data and the current legislation. The Baixada Santista ZEE, regulated by State Decree No. 58,996 of March 25, 2013, brought Bertioga a challenge, to conciliate protection of the natural heritage with urban development, so that the city can develop in a sustainable way.
