Abstract
The growth of the globalized economy drives aggressive investments in logistics infrastructure, mainly in port activities. Sustainable development and the search for an economy that encompasses not only the productive and financial status quo, but that above all meets social and environmental responsibility, is a constant challenge for the environmental management of ports. Based on the bibliographic survey and analysis of the positive socioeconomic impact generated by the construction of the Porto Itapoá project, in the city of Itapoá in Santa Catarina, as well as the social and environmental actions, this study according to the port management model of Porto Itapoá can be a paradigm for the transformation and development of environmentally friendly solutions in this sector.
