Abstract
Coexistence with the animals of esteem is closer and this relationship is transforming from possession to sentiment, once more each day you are encouraged to be considered as members of the family and not more property of a thing. The benefits desse contato we see being proven not within the scope of mental health. This work aims to understand, through a bibliographic review, the effect of contact with animals in children with autism spectrum disorder just because they have an animal of esteem at home. As a general objective, we will analyze the mental health of autistic children and as a specific objective, we will analyze the non-human animal as mental support. Foram used various sources, such as articles and dissertations, as well as reports and academic books. The results found demonstrate that the benefits are: increased socialization, reduced stress, decreased aggressive behavior. Likewise, it is possible to conclude that daily contact with their valued animals provides significant benefits for children with autism spectrum disorder.
