Abstract

This article presents a modeling approach for designing a chimney for a petrochemical furnace that uses propane as fuel. The objective is to determine the combustion parameters, such as air and combustion gas flow rates, to size the combustion system and the chimney. The methodology employed involves calculating the quantities of reactants and products of combustion, taking into account excess air and the chemical reactions involved. Based on these calculations, parameters for chimney sizing are determined, including its height and diameter, considering natural draft and gas velocity. The results obtained enable accurate chimney sizing, ensuring the efficiency and safety of the combustion system.
