Abstract

In this study, the public perception of the accessibility of architecture and interior design services was explored. The research, conducted through online questionnaires with 49 participants from São Paulo, revealed that many believe the costs of these services are high, even though about half have never hired these professionals. Although there is a positive response to the aesthetics and functionality of spaces designed by professionals, there is a clear perception of an elitist view that associates these professionals with high costs and unnecessary luxuries. Surprisingly, this perception is higher among individuals with higher education. Finally, it was concluded that it is necessary to demystify certain taboos to broaden the democratization and accessibility of these services.
