Abstract
The quadratus femoris muscle is a flat, quadrilateral muscle that origins at the inferolateral margin of the ischium along the anterior portion of the ischial tuberosity just anterior to the origin of the hamstring tendons, situated along the posterior aspect of the hip joint. Quadratus femoris muscle lesions are uncommon lesions whose incidence is unknown, as well as the exact mechanism of the lesion, but a congenitally minor distance between the minor trochanter and the ischial tuberosity is a predisposing factor to the impact of the quadratus femoris muscle. The diagnosis of quadratus femoris muscle tear may be difficult to perform clinically, so MRI is fundamental for diagnosis. The treatment of muscular lesion consists of a carefully planned physical rehabilitation program.
