Abstract
To analyze the prevalence of depressive symptoms in women during menopause. This research is an analytical cross-sectional study involving 31 volunteer women, attending Santa Cecília University, aged between 40 and 70 years. The participants in this study answered a sociodemographic questionnaire to collect personal data and health conditions, and the Beck Depression Inventory was used to assess depressive symptoms. Microsoft Office Excel 2007 software was used for statistical analysis. Continuous data were expressed as mean and standard deviation. Nominal data were expressed as relative frequency and absolute frequency. It can be observed in the present study that 83.87% of the women did not present depressive symptoms, 9.67% presented dysphoria and only 6.45% presented depressive symptoms. The data from the present research illustrate that the prevalence of depressive symptoms in menopause was low in this population studied.
