Main Article Content

Abstract

The performance of the insecure individual was structured in French society, as well as in urbanized European/Western society, according to specific social and economic conditions. Alain Ehrenberg's books “The Cult of Performance” and “The Insufficient Individual” are the basis for this essay. According to the author, French individuals in the 1990s gradually left a society in which social layers structured political conflicts and collectively organized personal identities, within a stable national panorama, to enter a society of individuals. The performance of the insecure individual is presented based on this bias.
