Abstract
This is a qualitative study in the area of Education that addresses the assessment practices undertaken in the municipal schools of Santos, in the 3rd year of Elementary School. The objective is to identify whether the proposal contained in the official documents of the Municipal Government of Santos is, in fact, carried out at the school. Since this is a study that is still in the development process, we will only present the initial results of the research regarding the documentary analysis carried out at school XX and the official guidelines contained in the documents collected at the school. It is, therefore, a case study. The assumptions that support the research are those of formative assessment, as stated by Perrenoud (1999), that formative assessment serves as an individual diagnosis of students, allowing them to perceive what they have already mastered and what they still need to improve. Unlike traditional assessment, it allows the teacher to adapt teaching to the needs of the students, because it is inserted in the context of teaching-learning, which therefore requires an internal relationship between the statements and their internal constitution.
